Bridge Inspector Rescues Dog Stranded 120 Feet Above Mississippi River
A dog stranded 120 feet above the Mississippi River was rescued by a team of bridge inspectors who just happened to be in the right place at the right time.
While inspecting the U.S. Route 84 westbound bridge over the Mississippi River on Sunday, Stantec Bridge Inspector Craig Jenkins noticed a stranded hound dog on the adjacent bridge structure.
Ryan Nataluk, lead climber and rescue technician for the team, quickly called the police for assistance and climbed down to the dog. After assessing her for injuries and fashioning a makeshift harness for the dog out of rope, Ryan lifted her to safety.
“No one is sure how she ended up down there,” says Stantec, “but this heartwarming rescue story proves that not all heroes wear capes!”
